It's A New Year - Let's Do The Damn Thing

As we lean into a new year, I keep hearing people talk about getting it right.

The right plan. The right timing. The right version of themselves that will magically appear on January 1st.

Spoiler alert: that version does not exist. And if it does, she’s probably exhausted and a little annoying.

Here’s what I know for sure: nothing is resolute. Life is fluid. Circumstances change. Energy changes. Motivation comes and goes. Some days feel inspired and expansive. Other days… well, sometimes it just sucks. And let's face it, shit happens.

And that’s not failure. That’s being alive.

This year, I’m not waiting until I feel “ready. ”I’m leaning into motion. Into failing forward. Into doing the damn thing - even when it’s messy, imperfect, or a little uncomfortable.

Because forward is forward. Even when it’s wobbly.

We actually have more control than we think. Not over outcomes, not over circumstances, but over what we tell ourselves about them. Our thoughts matter. They shape our energy, our choices, and our willingness to keep going.

I’ve learned that when I take my thoughts captive, when I pause, notice, and gently redirect them, I reclaim my power. Not with force. Not with toxic positivity. Just with awareness and intention.

Some days that looks like confidence and clarity. Other days it looks like putting on real pants, drinking water, and calling that a win.

Both count.

This year isn’t about perfection or rigidity. It’s about movement. About showing up. About trusting that even missteps are part of the path. You see, I've decided to live and love forward. I truly don't want my music to die inside me. That stands as intention enough!

So if you’re standing at the edge of this new year wondering if you’ll “get it right,” let me offer this instead:

Just begin. Just try. Just take the next honest step.

Fail forward if you must. Just don’t stand still waiting for certainty.

Life is fluid. And you are far more capable than you think.

Let's do this thing called Life! Happy New Year!
